Hi,

To understand, what is member server, I gone through some articles and I understood as …

Member server is a machine with Windows Server OS. Like Windows 10 client machine, Windows Server OS machine joined the AD-DC machine. No roles are added. If Active Directory Users and Computers role added and configured, it will be either Additional DC or Child DC.

Please let me know, anything else comes under member server?

In some articles, I read, Active Directory Users and Computers role added but not configured.

Please clarify.

With Regards
NndnG

    Hi,

A member server is a computer that runs an operating system belongs to a domain, and is not a domain controller. Member servers typically function as the following types of servers: file servers, application servers, database servers, Web servers, certificate servers, firewalls and remote-access servers.

Here is a similar thread might be useful for you.

AD server vs. Domain Controller vs. Member Server , et al

A computer with a server OS and AD installed is a Domain Controller. Any other computer with a server OS (or functioning as a server, for example with SQL Server installed) can be called a member server (if it is joined to the domain). A member server does not have AD installed.

    Bests,
