Why does "allow list" not work?

Question

Under : Edge Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Media Autoplay --

The allow list does not seem to work. The only way to allow autoplay on a specific site is to allow it on ALL sites.

The video at the top of this "allowed" web page can not be seen with the settings as shown. Am I missing something?

This is great as it explains why it doesn't work as expected in general. Does this list work on the audio tag, or on javascript loaders? Pandora unfortunately does not seem to use a cname in their cdn so i see many derivations in sub-domains in the audio tag. I think this allowlist feature is pretty limited as a result.

It would be insanely helpful if regular expressions or at the very least globbing wildcards, [?*], were allowed in the domain string. Not sure if there is a feature request open for this? Maybe next intern season? =)

The auto learning is helpful after some time, but unfortunately doesn't persist across browser sessions. :(

Yes exactly, the source of the video does not necessary need to be the same as the website. It's just embedded as part of the page.

For your example website, the video is actually hosted on cdn.shopify.com

I don't understand. Do you mean a video can somehow be relayed from another web site, instead of being an integral part of the site on the allow list?

It can depend on how the website is setup, if the video sources comes from a different address then this method won’t work unless you also located and added that source.
