Computer automatically press CTRL key down. How to fix?

I have a problem where my keyboard sometimes automatically presses the CTRL key. Whenever I open my computer, I cannot enter any numbers in the place you would normally enter the pin due to the continuous glitching of the CTRL key. To just open my laptop, I need to do a series of steps involving pressing "Forgot Password?" and then closing that window, and somehow magically I could enter numbers. The main problem is when I'm basically typing or playing any game, the CTRL key will press. For example, when I press "t" it will make it like "CTRL +t" which opens a new tab. The reason I am able to type this right now is because this randomly only happens. And every time it happens; I need to put my computer to sleep and then turn on again. It is so annoying. I only get to type or do anything for 1-4 minutes and then the keyboard will go back to pressing the CTRL key automatically (not physically). Please somebody help, I have been facing this problem for a week now and it happened at least 4 times while typing this out. I have tried the following so far, but it didn't work:

  • Hold both CTRL keys for 15 seconds
  • Updating keyboard drivers
  • Running keyboard troubleshooter
  • Disabling Sticky Keys
  • Used sequence to press Left Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Right Shift, Ctrl, Alt

    Hi Geetha,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

This sounds pretty much like a faulty keyboard which is very common for laptops.

Before we confirm that, do you have a spare USB keyboard for further troubleshooting?

I look forward to your response and am eager to collaborate until we find a solution.
