Hello, I am having an issue, there are more than multiple times my Microsoft account was attempted to be hacked, this is a personal email/account. I have been dealing with this issue for a while now and at one point last year, someone successfully hacked into my account. I was able to change my password although I'm not sure what to do now. I have taken many of the required measurements to keep my account safe, but many attempts have been continuing more recently being yesterday. Is there any way you could help secure and minimize these attempts? I also need help seeing how these people might be getting my information.

Hi ,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

This usually happens when someone has your account and tries to login and take control of your account. Every user should expect this kind of email in today's technology world. Regarding your question about how these people might be getting my information, there are many ways for hackers to get your information especially your email address but the most popular one is through phishing.

However, if you change your password:

If you added Two-Step Verification on the account:

If you checked the recent sign-in activity:

And if you enabled Microsoft Authenticator on your phone:

You did all the right steps and can safely ignore the emails.

It would be best if you scan your computer frequently. You can use the free version of Malwarebytes:

Please do not hesitate to ask if you need further assistance.

Stay safe
