IPv6, missing protocols, connection issues

I have had all the problems with connection everyone else mentions here.

Everytime I do end up fixing the issue after several restarts, several ip renewals and so on. But one thing in common all those problems do have is that IPv6 protocol seems to never work and everytime I do loose the connection troubleshooter comes up with two of the same issues.

  • invalid IP (i.e. 169.*.*.*)
  • missing protocols

Sadly this last time I was rush and by mistake I deleted the saved report of the missing protocol(s) so I couldn't tell what it's talking about.

My questions are two:

How can I fix the IPv6? (even though i consider it a non essential I do think it might be part of the problem)

And whether or not someone at MS knows what protocols could be missing and why are they always disappear?

Sorry to be so vague, but I am obviously not a tech. Not even that bright considering I deleted something that is needed to help me.

Thanks.

Hi detoam,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers community.

Microsoft is working on IPv6 related issues and soon will come out with some Fix.

 Try the below methods:

 Method 1:

 a. Click "Start", type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in Search Bar and press Enter.

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b. Right click the "Peer Networking Grouping" service and choose Properties.

c. Please check if the service is started; if not, please click the Start button and see if it works.

d. You may also choose Automatic next to Startup type.

e. Click OK.

Method 2: Try resetting TCP/IP stack.

To reset the TCP/IP stack go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

Hope this information is helpful.

Let me know if this worked.

Thanks and Regards:
