On my computer the "My Documents" files are located on a networked drive (\Drive\share\Allen\My Documents). When I click on the Recycle Bin icon the Recycle Bin associated with My Documents always generates a warning box that shows it as corrupted. With the Corrupted warning box I can either select to empty the "corrupted" bin or leave it as is. As some have suggested, I've deleted the $RECYCLE.BIN file found in the My Documents folder, but when it is regenerated I get the same warning. The recycle bin seems to be saving deleted files, but they cannot be viewed - only deleted. (the "Digital Pictures" files are also on a networked drive and have the same problem). I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate, is there someting I can to to fix this?
Thanks

what was the answer on this one, I'm getting this error since deleting incredimail
I have the EXACT Same Problems in Vista Ultimate.
An answer in this VISTA Forum would be Helpful. My Recycle.bin has even had corrupt boot files in it.
I have no idea HOW these corrupt boot files got into my system.
This $Recycle.bin file seems to be giving Hackers Access to take over computer. Or at least a Huge DoorWay.
FYI Only & ANY assistance in the Vista Forum would be appreciated.
Thank you.
I deleted the $RECYCLE.BIN file from the "My Documents" folder, the "Digital Pictures" folder and the root directory - and the problem is still there after the Recycle.bin files were regenerated.
I ran sfc /scannow and there were errors that could not be repaired, but I cannot read the CBS.log file - "Access Denied" to see what the problem(s) were. Chkdsk showed no problems on the C:\ drive, however I'm unsure how to run it across the network on the locations where "My Documents" and "Digital Pictures" are stored. ("My Documents" is at \Drive\share\Allen\My Documents and Digital Pictures is on the same drive at \Drive\share\Allen\Digital Pictures).
I assume I'm doing something wrong in not being able to read the CBS.Log file and that perhaps the answer is there?

Mr Markham,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.
It seems you have already tried the standard steps to fix the corrupted recycle bin and it just keeps getting corrupted again. Have you deleted the recycle bin file that is in the root of the primary drive in addition to deleting the one in the my documents folder? I would try that if you have not yet.
Another thing to try is running a system file scan to see if any system files are corrupt.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue
At the command prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
When the scan is complete, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved.
You should also run chkdsk on both drives, the primary boot drive and the external drive that is giving you the problems.
Let us know how this works for you.
Thanks,
Gloria
