I lost my public documents folder when i was changing where my Word documents were saved to. When you save a document , at the top of the saved document window it will say how many locations it will be saved to. When i clicked on that it said [ my documents and public documents ] I deleted the public documents, not knowing that it would permanantly delete the public document folder in windows explorer. How do I get it back.  Thank you

Perhaps try creating the folder again from within the guest account, so that the permissions are not set with you as the owner.

Add the Public Documents folder to the Documents Library :

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Right-click Documents .
  3. Click Properties .
  4. Click the Include a folder button.
  5. Browse to C:\Users\Public\Public Documents .
  6. Click Include folder .

I think the folder name should be "Public Documents".

First, check your Recycle Bin to see if you can easily restore it from there.

If not, I'd recommend navigating to C:\Users\Public and then creating a new folder called "Documents".  Then perform the steps suggested by Steve above.

Thank you, however when I browse to where you instructed me to, the public document folder is missing. Public music, public video, public pictures, public downloads are there but public documents is missing. So I cannot place any documents in my guest account.
