My computer just recently stopped connecting to the internet, I've tried to restore it and change the Ethernet Cables. It says that its not recognizing any Network Adapter Driver, although it has internet on and running to the computer it wont let you access anything that uses internet? Do i need to download a driver from microsoft and transfer it over to my other computer?

Hi ColbyHC,

Please see the following steps to troublehoot your issue:

I can't connect to the Internet to update my drivers.

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

If you do not have a connection to the Internet, you might need to update your network adapter driver manually. If you have the disc that came with the device, place it in the CD drive and follow the steps to manually update the driver.

If you can't find the disc, try to connect to the Internet from another computer and download the device driver from the device manufacturer's website. Once you have the device driver files, copy them to the computer with a problem. Follow these steps to manually update the driver.

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clickingDevice Manager.‌  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. In Device Manager, locate the device under Network adapters, and then double-click the device name.
  3. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
  4. In the Update Driver Software wizard, click Browse my computer for driver software.
  5. Click the Browse button and go to the location on your computer where you saved the new driver files.
  6. Click OK, and then click Next to install the driver.

Hope this helps!

    Hi,

Try system restore and bring your system back to the day prior to the issue.

    My internet connection is DSL

I'm using an ethernet cable to the router which is a linksys, bought it like 4 weeks ago and everything worked fine till yesterday. I'm positive it has nothing to do with the router because it has the connection light blinking when it is plugged in.

When i login to my computer after startup it has the internet connection symbol at the bottom and it has a red X over it and it wont connect to the internet through anything. I tried windows update, and restarted it several times but now i cant even find Network Adapters through the Device Manager page. When i troubleshoot it, it says could not connect to Network Adapter Driver, and i dont know how to uninstall and reinstall the driver if its not even showing up on the Device Manager, and system.

What kind of internet connection do you have? Cable? DSL? Dial-up?

What hardware do you use to do it? Modem model? Router model?

What happens when you try? If you get an error message, please quote

    it verbatim.
