Display the same screen on two different monitors

The screen on my laptops colors are all messed up (essentially inverted) due to what i believe is a loose wire, so I attached an external monitor to it. It used to display the same thing as my laptops screen, but now it just acts as an addition, extending the screen. I can't get it back to what it was and it's very hard to use it. Does anyone know how to make it display the same screen as my laptop's?

    Hi Chowzer,

To view the same desktop on multiple monitors, follow the steps below:

View Same Desktop in Multiple Monitors

    1. On the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box, click the monitor icon that represents the monitor you want to use in addition to your primary monitor.
    2. Click to select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box. After you enable this feature, you can drag items across your screen onto alternate monitors. Or, you can resize a window to stretch it across more than one monitor.

You may refer to this document for more options.

I think the answer is that it cannot be done.  I know you say it used to display the same; but I don't believe it unless maybe you were running LInux. With Windows XP I think the only possibility is to extend the desktop space over multiple monitors, but then only part of the desktop is seen on each monitor, not the same display content. The only way I have been able to get mirror displays on two monitors is with a line splitter and that would not work with the LCD of a laptop because you cannot split the LCD signal - you don't have physical access to it. I am only guessing because you have had no answer in over a year.
