I was using the performance monitor the other day and this came up.

this was also in the event log.
Unable to read the performance counter strings defined for the 012 language ID. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the Win32 error code.
The only notable change I've done to the computer was the installment of foobar2000 1.0 Beta 1 which I think poses no relevant cause to the perfmon incident.
I wasn't able to find a possible fix because this hasn't come up as an 'issue' yet. Also, the relevant topics on my searches were related to older versions of Windows such as XP and 2K

I had the same issue on w2k8 R2. Executing LODCTR /R solved all problems.
Looks like a very grueling proces to go through since If I make a faulty counter and enter it...I'm screwed(?)
