It seems that the publishers have lowered the minimum requirements since the Beta. See those official data:http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/#/about/game_info. From users' experiences, however, it still seems a very demanding game which should only be tried on better specs than those very minimal ones. As Irfan said, an exact error message about the incompatibility issue would be helpful.

EDIT: After a quick look to the dedicated gamers' forums for FFXIV, the ffxivboot.exe file is known for several issues (crashes, "stopped working and must be closed", incompatibility). No common cause found until now.

Oh no! That's the second time I've to reply to a similar question. Final Fantasy XIV is no "older game" that possibly requires compatibility settings, and it is too recent to appear in the compatibility list. It was released ~1 month ago, designed to run on Windows 7 (not on older systems). The system requirements to run this MMORPG are insanely high, suffice it to say that the minimum CPU required to run it is an Intel i7 @ 2.66 GHz. Perhaps the OP could post his specs to eliminate any hardware issues before we go further on.

    Hello mosfett80,

    1.     What is the exact error message you get when you play the game?

    2.     Do you have the latest drivers for your Video Card?

I suggest that you try the below methods to fix this issue.

    Method 1:

I suggest that you uninstall the game and reinstall and check if it continues to crash.

    Method 2:

It could be possible that the game could be incompatible with The Video Card. I suggest that you make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your Video card.

You can check out the below article that will give you information on how to update drivers:
