Desktop Auto-Refresh

I have a very strange problem with Windows 7. After the screen goes to sleep, the desktop no longer refreshes automatically until I restart the computer. THis means that when I download files, for example, they do not appear on the desktop until I hit refresh. I can, however, refresh it by hitting the refresh button. This problem only occurs if the monitor went to sleep at least once. My solution is to make it so the monitor does not sleep, but the screensaver is set to blank. I wish this problem did not occur so I can put my monitor to sleep. What could be the problem?

Edit: I just noticed that it is not just after it goes to sleep, but maybe after some time? I am not exactly sure what triggers it then.

Hi Cyberdragon,

  • Since when are you facing this issue?
  • Was it working fine earlier?
  • Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue occurred?

However, you may try to create a new user account on your computer and verify if the issue occurs on the other account.

To create a new user account, follow the steps below.

1.  Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.

2.  Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3.  Click Create a new account.

4.  Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

If you are able to access the shortcuts using the new profile, access the link below and follow the steps to fix the user profile.

Hope this helps. Let us know the results.

Thanks and Regards,
