Browsing In The Same Window

I get an error message from Nuance software that says: "Your settings for Microsoft Word Documents are not compatible.

To make compatible access <Folder Options> from the Windows Explorer <Tools> menu or from the Control Panel, which can be accessed from the <Start> menu.

Then click on the File Types tab and select the file type "Microsoft Word Document" with the extension DOC. Then click on the <Advanced> button.

Check the checkbox "Browse in same window" and click on <OK> and then click on <Close>. "

How do you accomplish same with Windows 7?!?!?!?  The above procedure works for Windows XP but does not seem to exist in Windows 7.

Thanks for your help.

Hi James,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

What I understand from your question is that you want to associate file types to use it for work. To do that in Windows 7 follow the below given steps:

1.     Click on Start.

2.     Select Default Programs.

3.     Click on ‘Associate a file type or a protocol with a program’.

4.     There you may select the desired extension and click on change program.

5.     Browse for the program you are looking for and associate it.

6.     Click Ok.

Now check if you accomplish what you had been trying.

Hope this information is helpful.
