Keep getting a message at startup that spldr.sys failed to load.  Have looked in System32 but cannot see it there - could it have been deleted and if so, where can I get another copy to replace it?

The spldr.sys should be there.

Please start the command prompt (cmd.exe) with admin rights [1] and run sfc [2]:

sfc.exe /scannow

Is it able to find and repair broken/missing files? If not, replace the driver with the file from your DVD [3].

best regards

André

My issue is somewhat different in that, my screen resolution got messed up and all I was getting was a wide black block running down the length of my screen and the rest of the screen was weird gray color. I shut down multiple times and I hear Windows booting and loading except that I see nothing on the screen of my laptop. I am also running Vista and this just happened this Sunday April 11th 2011. I booted into Safe Mode and checked out some services and enabled 'hidden drivers' in Device Manager. Found out SPLDR is faulty or missing drivers. I scanned for hardware changes, nothing. I 'killed' some junk loading at Startup and rebooted the laptop. I haven't had any issues since. But I think it might happen again. Any ideas? Is there any place I can get 'updated' drivers?

    Thanks
