Hi all .. I tried to connect my phone but my computer doesn't see it.  (I am running this laptop wireless so the bluetooth is enabled and the service is running)  When I try to make the laptop discoverable, I get the following error:      An error occurred while windows was saving your settings.  The bluetooth device might be unplugged.  The following settings were not saved:  Discoverabilty settings  Connections settings.

I've read about going to the device manager but can't find bluetooth devices there. HELP!!

Hi Mjhpac,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

Let us try the following steps.

Method

Step 1: Remove and reinstall the device.

    1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Bluetooth Devices.
    2. Select the device that's not working, and then click Remove.
    3. Click Add, press the reset button on the device (or make it discoverable following the manufacturer's instructions), select the My device is set up and ready to be found check box, and then click Next.
    4. If the device is not found, repeat the previous step. When the device is found, select it, and then click Next.
    5. Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard.

Step 2

  1. Make sure the device is turned on and that the batteries don't need to be replaced.
  2. Make sure the Bluetooth adapter for your computer is attached and turned on, and that the device is turned on and discoverable. If you're not sure how to turn on discoverability, read the instructions that came with the device or check the manufacturer's website.

Step 3

Make sure that you installed the device using the correct program. If not, reinstall the device.

For a mobile phone, if you have Bluetooth wireless technology installed on your computer, use the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard. To do so, follow these steps:

    1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Bluetooth Devices.
    2. Click Add.

Step 4

The device might be out of range of your computer, or too close. Try moving it closer or a little farther from your computer.

Hope this was helpful.

Had this problem during the upgrade of Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. It's a driver issue - Try disabling/enabling first, then try updating the driver (mine took a few goes before success). If no update is available I would look to replace the driver somehow. Hope that helps :)

I had this problem also.  Right click the adapter which should show in devices and printers, properties, hardware tab, properties, change settings button, driver tab, then update driver.  When it asks, choose local folder and when prompted for the path shorten it up to the folder of drivers.  On the next step ask to choose |let me pick| then select the generic driver and not in my case CSR4.0.  Now I get the Bluetooth icon in the sys tray and can finally pair something.  This broke after my upgrade from win 7 to win 10
