FSX Accelaration - Activation Problem

Hi, I just installed Flight Simulator X Accelaration but whenever I start it I get this message,

"We're sorry, an unexpected error occured which is preventing product activation from being completed.

ERROR CODE: 1-80004005"

It works fine, but after 30 minutes it makes me get out of it then restart. Multiplayer also doesn't work.

I looked in the support area on the microsoft website and it says I should get an activation message after the 30 minutes, but nothing happens.

PLease help

Hello ThomasL.

Have you ever had the activation prompt open up, like on first run?  Or has it just never worked at all?  If it hasn't try the following:

Press Start -> type regedit into Start Search and press enter.  Elevate when prompted.

Make your way to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Find Upperfilters listed under it, and check its value, if its 0 change it to PartMgr and click OK out.

If that worked you should get the activation prompt the next time you run FSX.

    September 18, 2016! yea buddy! Still using FSX and this worked for me on Windows 10 Pro build 1706. Upper filter did not have a zero rather it had "partmgr" all lower case. I changed it to "PartMgr" like the genius Paul Smith said to to and the next time I ran FSX it asked for activation and I entered my key. Working great. I was never prompted to enter a key after running the Acceleration DVD. In addition, Windows 10 does not allow FSX to create a desktop icon or an entry in the start menu, easily fixable though.

    I too had PartMgr in lower case causing activation error on acceleration, after quick change and restart, activation key accepted and works.

    Thanks to all after reading the posts.
