ODBC problem

My network consists of an XP SP3 and an SQL2005 network.  I connect to the SQL tables via an ODBC on the XP.  When the XP is restarted, I can connect via the ODBC for a period of time, maybe 10 minutes.  Then the connection is lost.  I must reboot to access the SQL server again.  I can map to the sql server, so the network is intact.  I have another pc running on WIN NT very old.  It does not lose the ODBC connection.

Do I need a new odbc driver?  Thank you.

This was happening when the SQL server was SQL2000, so I updated to SQL2005 to see if it would stop losing the connectivity.  I had first applied SP4 to the SQL2000 server.

SQL server is running on Windows Server 2003 SP2.
