Registry Problem

Anonymous
2010-08-19T16:28:34+00:00

I recently tried to look at the properties located at the following registry key...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\WPD\0000\Properties]

... for a reason that escapes me at present but I was greeted with a dialog stating that access to the key was denied due to an error in the registry.

How can I delete the key so that it can be recreated?

Regards

Gary

I was unable to determine what problem actually exists due to the access denial.

WPD\000 is related to my Nokia 9300.

If no-one can access that key, then uninstall/reinstall of PCSuite won't fix the problem either.

On my system the Permissions for that Key are set as follows

    Everyone - Read

    OWNER RIGHTS - Special

    SYSTEM - Full Control, Read

I am not allowed to delete the Key, or edit the entries under it

Can you actually see the entries?

    (I have the Nokia 6303)

    can you export them?

You could tell us what the problem is that makes you feel that you need to delete that key. Maybe someone (or a number of someone's) can give you an alternative to reinstalling Windows.

Normally, I don't have a problem since I am an administrator.

It appears that Win7 has detected a problem and locked that key which is a bit stupid because I can't correct the problem now.

I recall now, I saw an error in the event logs relating to that key and that's why I went there.

So, I take it that there's nothing I can do but reinstall Windows?

I have a feeling that none of the ‘Properties’ keys can be accessed, in order to prevent changes or in your case, deletions.
