I recently refreshed my home PC and coincidentally upgraded the firmware on my Linksys router as well. I did not notice any network related anomalies until I tried to remote to my machine using logmein and found that the machine's status was offline even
though I did turn it on.
After some investigation, I discovered that the machine is not negiotating the network/internet connection at the Windows Logon Screen but only after I input the UN/PW and the desktop proceeds to load does the Network Connection icon appear in the lower-right
with the waiting circle animation then finally is the machine connected to the net.
My BIOS settings remain the same. The only marked changes was the OS reinstall and router firmware upgrade.
I highly suspect that this is a software or network card drivers configuration issue but I just don't know exactly what setting controls initialization at the Windows Logon Screen.
I also tried disabling my ESET Firewall, connecting the PC directly to the Cable Modem, and tweaking some Windows Services to Auto-Start instead of Manual-Start...to no avail the network only initializes only after logging on.
I consulted with Linksys/Cisco support and they were not helpful in the least.
I'm hoping someone here could offer additional advice that perhaps I have not considered.
