Setup.exe has encountered a problem.

I'm running XP Home 2003 and I am trying to remove an old Wireless USB adapter programme through Add/Remove programmes. I get a window that says 'Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'. I have tried to download Setup but I get a message that IIS is not installed. It's not in Add/Remove Windows components. I don't have the installation CD as the computer came with XP Home already loaded. Any ideas out there to fix this problem?

    Hi,

You may be best navigating back to the software's folder in Program Files in your main drive (Normally C:), to see if you can run its Uninstall program from there but it will most likely produce the same error.

There are a few routes from here for uninstalling the software from deleting the software folders and removing any registry files, to seeing if we can install the software again to fix it, so we can then uninstall it

    Let me know,

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not software literate, so I searched Microsoft.com for Setup.exe in the vain attempt to fix my problem. When I try to remove the Wireless adapter programme, I get the window 'Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'. I can't remove the programme. Does that help you?
