I installed windows 7 and the windows games don't work. Everytime I try to play spider solitaire it says the executable stopped working and the game closes. Not just spider but all the windows games that come with windows 7. They all worked with vista on a 32 bit system. I am now on windows 7 64 bit. Other then this problem I love windows 7 but I need spider solitaire. Thanks!

I had the exact problem: Go to the video card program, and change from "let windows decide", to Advanced choyce.

The same problem occurred in a Dell Optiplex 745 with onboard Intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipset, Win7 x64.

The problem was resolved by installing an EVGA GeForce 9500 GT graphics card. The BIOS was set to use the graphics card; Win7 recognized the device and installed the correct driver. One reboot and the games worked correctly.

I too have this problem with windows 7. I did some research and discovered that Spider Solitaire requires graphics hardware acceleration. Try upgrading your graphics drivers. This worked for one person. You can test to see if this is the problem by adjusting your graphics hardware acceleration:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263039

    ...Adjust graphics hardware acceleration

To adjust graphics hardware acceleration, follow these steps:

Click Start, type personalization in the Start Search box, and then click Personalization in the Programs list.

    Click Display Settings.

    Click Advanced Settings.

Click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change settings.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

Move the Hardware Acceleration slider two notches to the left of Full (the Disable cursor and bitmap accelerations setting).

Click OK, and then click Restart Now.

After the computer has restarted, test the game.

Note If your game runs with video acceleration turned down, it may indicate that you have to update your video driver or it may indicate that your display adapter cannot run your game at full acceleration.

My integrated graphics hardware is up to date, and it won't let me change the acceleration. I guess I need a new graphics card.

I did that, it reported no errors.  I also unticked games, restarted and then ticked games.  No result.  I still have the problem. What can I do?
