I'm trying to move some data folders to my "windows" folder.  Now I have 3 "windows" folders within my personal folder.  How did this happen and what can I do to remove them?  I'm afraid to just delete.. not sure what info is there that might be changed.

    Hi LWillett,

You may performdisk clean up. Follow the steps listed in the below link to perform Disk Clean up:**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Delete-files-using-Disk-Cleanup**

Disk clean up deletes unwanted files from your computer.

    Hi LWillett,

I would suggest you rename any two of the windows folder to Windows.old and windows.old2 and restart the computer.

If you are able to boot the computer with no issues then you may try deleting the folders.

If you are unable to boot the computer, you need rename the folder back from Windows Recovery Environment.

Follow the steps listed below to go to Windows recovery environment

    a.  Put the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    b.  Press a key when you are prompted.

    c.   Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click next.

    d.  Click Repair your computer.

    e.  Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click next.

    f.    In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.

    g.  Type in notepad

    h.  Click on File option in notepad

    i.    And navigate to the location where Windows folder is saved (C:\Windows)

    j.    Rename it back and restart the computer.

    Samhrutha,

I think you've completely misunderstood what I'm talking about.  These are not "files" that I can just clean up.  I've tried using different "cleaners" with no success.  These are "Windows" FOLDERS that have been replicated in my personal folder.  They contain all the information that the "real" windows folder holds.  I believe that they're markers that point to the real windows folder, but I have found no way to remove them.  I cannot delete them.  It points to the windows folder and will delete all my windows information.  I'm using Windows 7 on a 64-bit system.   Can anyone help?

There are 3 Windows folders in my personal folder.  It would appear that ALL the windows data has been replicated inside these folders.  If I attempt to delete a folder, it tells me I'm deleting information from the OS.  I believe these folders are "markers" to the real folder, but I don't know how to remove them.  Any help would be apprecated.  Thanks!
