My print setting keep changing.  Running office 2007 and windows 7.  I have set default print settings, that doesn't work.  They even change in excel after I change them print a spreadsheet, go to a different tab and the settings have changed.  They don't change to the same settings all the time either.  Frustrating because it usually changes them to high resolution so it takes for ever to print.

Seems to be only when printing from MS Excel.

I am printing to paperport document most of the time, but the settings also change when I print to HP LaserJet 3390 & HP inkjet 460.

The other thing that I hadn't noticed is that it keeps changing to collate also, I did find another post that was haveing issues with this as well.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi WhyUpgrade,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers.

****1. Which model of printer are you using?

    1. By any chance, have you kept the printer on network?
    2. Do the printer settings change only with Microsoft Excel application or other applications as well?

I would suggest you to use the below mentioned steps and check if this resolves the issue –

    Method 1:

You may use the troubleshooter to check for issues related to the printer.

    Open the Printer troubleshooter -

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Printer-troubleshooter

**Method 2:**I would suggest you to refer to the below mentioned link for free virus or malware scan of your computer and use it on your computer –

**Method 3:**Use the below mentioned link to set the default printer and check for the topic–

    Automatically switching default printers -

**Method 4:**If the issue persists I would suggest you to download and install the printer drivers from the manufacturer website and then check. You may also check if at all an update of printer driver is needed to be installed. Refer to the below links for assistance -

To update the drivers follow the steps below:

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the left pane, click Check for updates.
    3. To see if updated drivers are available, click View available updates. Windows Update will list any updated drivers that are available for devices installed in your computer.
    4. If updates are available, click the driver that you want to install, and then click Install. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Find and install printer drivers -
