Change system partition

I have a laptop with dual boot Windows 7(D:) and XP(C:). The Windows 7 partition says Boot and the XP partition says system. I want to format the XP partition but i cant because it is the system partition, how can i change the system partition to the Windows 7 partition?

We would like to know more information related to the issue

·         Are both C; and D: drives primary partitions?

If both the drives are primary, then we can select D: drive as active and then format the C: drive. If C: drive is primary and D: is logical then we cannot format C:
