Warning 1309

When installing some software, I receive a Warning 1309, and a message that there has been an error reading from file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\programs\Accesories\System Tools\dfrgui.lnk

The shortcut is there, but under a different name - Disk Defragmenter.lnk (This shortcut does point to a dfrgui.exe file in the system32 directory). I tried to rename the shortcut, but as soon as I clicked Enter after the rename, it reverted to Disk Defragmenter again. (There seesm to be an .ini file of local filenames in the same directory.

How do I overcome this because, at the moment, the software will not install.

Thanks

Stephen Carter

    Hello stephenhcarter,

Can you recreate the shortcut so the target path points to the right location for your program?

The other option would be to uninstall the program and reinstall. Then see if you are still getting the same error.

Please reply back with an update.

    Thanks,

Yes. But I still don't see why I get the error.

Presumably this unknown program is a utility / replacement for the default defrag app?
