I wanted to remove/hide the 'windows Security' icon from Start menu. ![59622-image.png][1] I have tried below but i feel it will be dangerous to do that: open an elevated Command Prompt (an Administrative command prompt), copy and paste the following lines (and press return) set WS=%SystemRoot%\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI_cw5n1h2txyewy takeown /f %WS% /r /a > nul icacls %WS% /reset /t > nul rmdir /s /q %WS% [1]: /api/attachments/59622-image.png?platform=QnA Is there any way i can hide or disable it. Basically my requirement is when the user click on the windows security icon it shouldn't open a security window. Thanks,

    Hello,

Not sure, if removing that entry would help. Still users can access Windows Security from Settings app, search, Cortana, taskbar icons etc. places.

Any specific reason why you want to hide it?

    Regards.

    Hi,

1.Per my knowledge, most of the configuration option provided by windows operating system from GUI is related to remove or hide the icon from the notification area or system tray.

But the same method like yours has been verified in below link (screenshots attached):
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/69ce3ab3-f755-4436-81ef-10e44128479b/hide-integrated-apps-from-start-menu-list?forum=winserverTS

2.If there is RDS deployment, then the windows security icon could be removed from windows clients by GPO:
Administrative Templates >Windows Components >Remote desktop services >Remote desktop Session host > Remote Session Environment > Remove Windows Security item from Start menu

Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.

    Thanks,
    Jenny
