Just got a new desktop system for Christmas, preinstalled with Win 7 (Home Premium).

The first thing I did was install NaturallySpeaking (Nuance) which I've used for years and never had a problem with.

But when I attempted to launch NaturallySpeaking it gets as far as the splash screen and that's it.

Here's the error data after manually quiting:

I am using Version 10.1 of NaturallySpeaking.

Following your explicit instructions of the use of msconfig did not produce any resolution, even when all services and processes were disabled.

If you have any further suggestions, I would be thrilled to hear back from you.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 Answers Forum!

Could you please answer these below questions?

    a)      Which version of NaturallySpeaking have you installed on your computer?

If you have installed NaturallySpeaking version 9 then you need to uninstall that and reinstall the program in compatibility mode and check if it fixes the issue.

Now try to install the software from the CD and check for the issue.

If it is not compatible then you need to install it in compatibility mode and check for the issue to do that you need to follow the steps provided below.

Locate the installer.exe or setup.exe file in your file system and right-click on the file. From the contextual menu, choose Properties > Compatibility. Choose the version of Windows you want to emulate and select the “Run this program in compatibility mode” checkbox. Run the installer

If you need further information on the above provided steps then you can follow the link provided below.

If you are trying to installed NaturallySpeaking version 10 then try troubleshooting this matter with a Clean Boot to see if we can pinpoint a program or driver that could be causing the issue you are experiencing.

A Clean Boot allows us to start Windows with certain programs and drivers turned off or on by selection. By doing this through trial-and-error we can hopefully pinpoint a specific cause of this issue. Here is how to troubleshoot with a Clean Boot:

    Clean Boot Troubleshooting.

    1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

    User Account Control permission.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the

    password, Or click Continue.

    1. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
    2. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box.
    3. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable

    All.

    1. Click OK.
    2. When you are prompted, click Restart.
    3. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.

If the issue is resolved check which third party program is causing the problem, referring the link given below:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual.

After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
