Hello psychoward,

Thanks for using the Microsoft Answers Forum.

You might try using the Windows installer Cleanup Utility to remove any remnants of software that has been installed on your computer. This program is designed to remove failed installations and software that is otherwise hard to remove.

    Psychoward,

I had a similar problem. Early versions of Nero 7 are incompatible with Vista, and the install process states this. To remove all traces of any Nero install (http://www.nero.com/ena/support-downloads.html), go to "Tools and Utilities" and follow the prompts/instructions on using the Nero 8 Clean Tool thingy. Your problems should all dissapear after a re-boot.

Nero version 7.5.x.x is the first version generally regarded as being Vista compatible, depending on your Vista version. I recently installed Nero 7.5.1.1 on a Vista laptop and that worked fine, but DVD Shink does not recognise that there is a Nero version installed, so I'm kinda still scratching my head over that one! I used to use Nero 7 Essentials with DVD Shrink on XP to rip my DVD's - guess I'm gonna have to find some other route under Vista.
