Error code 490

I am trying to install service pack 1 and keep getting error code 490. I have been through many posts about this problem and have not yet seen a resolution, is there one?  I am trying to upgrade to Windows 7 and the upgrade advisor is telling me to install service pack 1 first.  can anyone help?
