Error 35: Error calling external object function

I am getting "Error 35: Error calling external object function driverinit at line 302 in open event " and cannot open a program. A couple of solutions I have found searching for this refer to an SQL server update.  The only thing I have tried to do lately is update a printer driver, everything was working fine before that.  I have also received an SQL error on one website when trying to access the FAQs.  I have found an article to Download an update to the initial release of SQL Server 2005 SP2 but am not sure if this is what I really need to do.  Can someone help?

    Crtet,

Error 35 is not a common Windows error. It is very likely the above registry scanner will only cause more problems.

The error you are receiving is from your application. Since it is not being generated by Windows, I would highly recommend contacting BookKeeper Support directly.

I found this in a search today, but have also seen warning against registry cleanups. Is this something I should try?  I'm getting a little desperate I can't even get into the program and I need to do payroll as well as year end closing.

Error 35 is a common Windows error. Error 35 is usually caused by missing system files, wrong system settings or a corrupted registry file. Run a registry scan to check for registry errors & other system problems. 90% of the time this will fix the cause of the error.

The only thing I can think of that I did in the week prior to the error was update my tax tables and install a new driver for my printer.  I need a solution quickly so I can close out 2009 and do my weekly payroll.

Error 35: occurred in object bookkeeper contained in bookkeeper during the open process at line 302

The program I am trying to open is Bookkeeper by MySoftware.  I have been using this program for over 3 years.  The entire error message is:

    Error: 35

Occurred in object bookkeeper contained in bookkeeper during the open process at line 302

    Details:

Error calling external object function driverinit at line 302 in open event of object bookkeeper.

It is not a program that I can access from a website, it is one my computer. Truthfully, I have not tried an uninstall/reinstall because I'm afraid I will lose everything. I did perform a back up about a week before this occurred, but I have to be able to be in the program to restore from the backup file.

I did noticed when I right clicked on the Bookkeeper icon, that it says to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP and I am running Vista 64, but I have been using it for over a year on this and it has been fine.

    Hi crtet,

    • Which is the program that you are trying to open?

    • What is the exact error message that you are getting?

In the mean time, you may try uninstallaing and reinstalling the program and check if you able to open it without any issues.

You may also check for an update from the program manufacturer.

Try browsing the website from some other computer and check if you are able to access it.

Please post back and let us know if this has helped to resolve your issue.

    Regards,

    KarthiK TP
