I get the following error message when I attempt to install adobe reader:

Error 1317.An error occurred while attempting to create the directory

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Replicate

I upgraded to windows 7 (64 bit) from Vista.  It was a free upgrade that was included with my laptop purchase.  Any ideas?  I am so frusterated!  I have successfully installed Quickbooks 2010, amoung other programs, but this stupid thing will not cooperate.  Thanks!

Hello,

Error 1317 is related to permission. Here is a KB from Adobe it referring to XP but basically its the same thing you have to do on Windows 7 as well. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332541.html

Hope this helps !!

    Capt. Jack,

The link you cited returns an Error 404 from Adobe. I realize your entry is almost 4 years old so perhaps they remove these help pages after some duration limit. Anyway, I have the same problem while trying to install DraftCad from Dassault Systemes. My problem is that the C:\ProgramData\xxxx folder does not exist or is not visible when I search my directory. I have had earlier versions of this DraftCad software running on this machine previously so I don't understand why the last two updated versions have this same "cannot create folder" problem.

I am running Win 7 Home Premium X64 on a Dell PC.
