Hi Rautsacool,

Welcome to the Microsoft Forums.

Try installing the game as an administrator. To do this, right click on the game setup file and then click on "Run as administrator". Also check at the game manufactuerer's website if the game is compatible with windows 7.

This problem seems to especially crop up under Windows with UAC turned off.

First, let’s try re-registering windows installer. To do this, follow the steps below:

1.   Press the Windows key and R simultaneously on your keyboard or click on start and then click on run.

2.   Press enter after typing each of the following commands below:

 msiexec /unreg

          msiexec /regserver

Once the above steps are done, try installing the game and check if you are able to install.

If the above steps do not help, then place the computer in a clean boot state and then try installing. To place the computer in a clean boot state, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Start the System Configuration Utility

Click StartCollapse this imageExpand this image , type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. Collapse this imageExpand this image If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure Selective Startup options

1.       In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

2.       Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.

Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.

3.       Click the Services tab.

4.       Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.

5.       Click Disable All, and then click OK.

6.       When you are prompted, click Restart.

Once your computer restarts, try installing the game and check if you are able to install.

To return your computer to a Normal startup mode, follow these steps:

1.       Click Start Collapse this imageExpand this im in the Start Search box. Type msconfig, and then press ENTER.

2.       Collapse this imageExpand this ima If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

3.       On the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.

4.       When you are prompted, click Restart.

Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program

If clean boot does not resolve the issue, you can go ahead and run a SFC scan. To run a SFC scan, follow the steps below:

Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue, and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

1.       Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

2.       Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Hope the above suggestions will help. Please let us know the status of the issue after trying the above suggestions.

Regards

Hi ... I had the same problem and got the answer off a translated German website.

    The solution is:

    1. Install the game and ignore the error.
    2. With the disc still in the drive, navigate to the drive and right click to 'open' the CD.
    3. Right click and copy WSC2009.dat from the CD.
    4. Close, then navigate to my computer/c/program files/Blade etc.
    5. Paste and overwrite the .dat file.
    6. Play the game :)

Thanks for your help, i was having the very same problem.  I am Just adding some more info

During the installation process if u get the Error msg just <ignore>  it and proceed with rest of

    the installation process.

Once the installation finish, Delete the game's shortcut on your desktop because if u try to run

the game with this shortcut, Game will simply not Run.

Go to your CD/DVD Drive where your Game's CD/DVD is Or the iso image of the game u have Mounted on the virtual CD drive and Go to this Path

    D:\WSC2009_Real\Programfiles\Blade\WSC Real 09 \ AND YOU WILL SEE <WSC2009.EXE>

Note: This is not the installed Directory of the game on C: DRIVE

Make the shortcut of <WSC2009.EXE> on your desktop and it will definitely run the game

    Enjoy the Game
