Hi jcarrigan,

a.     When do you get this error message?

b.     Which is the application with which you get this error message?

Step 1: Try uninstalling the product with which you get this error message.

You can use Programs and Features to uninstall programs or to change the program's configuration by adding or removing certain options.

1.     Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features.

2.     Select a program, and then click Uninstall. Some programs include the option to change or repair the program in addition to uninstalling it. But many simply offer the option to uninstall. To change a program, click Change or Repair. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

For more information visit the following link:

Step 2: You may also download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall the product.

Refer the following link to do the same:

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Step 3: Try to re-register the windows installer service and then install the product again by following this step:

  1. Click on the start menu and type in “Msiexec /unregister“ in the search box.
  2. Do the same thing with this command “Msiexec /regserver“
