Kernel-Event Tracing/Event Log/Errors - Homegroup Log failed to start.

I hope this is the proper place to put this.  I'm getting this error in my event logs every time I have to restart my computer.  Specifically, Homegroup Log failed to start, and within the event logs it shows up as "Kernel-Event Tracing log error.  There is nothing wrong with my homegroup though, as I can see all of the other systems located throughout my house and each have access to one another.  Errors in my logs have always bothered me :), and I would be very grateful if someone could help me out with this.  Thank you.

By the way, this error is happening on multiple computers within the Homegroup, so it is not confined to one machine having the difficulty.  This error however is not having an impact (as far as I can tell anyway) on the performance of my system.

Ok, I'm just adding a bit here to mention the POSSIBLE work a round/fix or whatever you want to call it for my original problem.  As I mentioned in the previous post, the system(s) have not displayed the error any more for many days now.  I believe that it is because I restructured the HomeGroup and made sure that I created the homegroup with my desktop which stays ON almost all of the time.  So in other words, I think the problem originated from the fact that when I set up my wifes new laptop, I initally created the homegroup on her computer which she puts to sleep all of the time when she's not using it.  The other systems, which are mine, continued to generate the error about the homegroup log, when her machine was in sleep mode.  Since I restructured the homegroup to make it so my desktop was the system that originally started the homegroup (and it stays on almost 24 hours a day), I haven't experienced the original error.  If anyone is experiencing this same type of problem, then if I were you, I would at least look into solving it the same way as I did.  I am considering my problem SOLVED.  I do not know how to mark this topic as being answered, so I'll just leave it at that.

Hello Deepak, and thanks for the response.

I've been inside the error event properties window and this is the only thing that is available: Session "Homegroup Log" failed to start with the following error: 0xC00000035.

This is all I see in the properties windows.  In regards to any other devices having difficulty, I do not.  I do have a printer in my Homegroup, but I can print to it from any computer within the Homegroup, so that isn't it.  All of my drivers are operating normally according to the System (ie..no problems reported).  All devices on each system within the "Device Manager" area is showing up as installed...etc. (ie..no yellow exclamation marks).  There is however 1 device that I keep having difficulty with when it is plugged in.  This device has NOT been made available to the Homegroup however.  It is a Western Digital MyBook external hard drive.  This surely isn't the culprit is it, since it was not made available to the Homegroup?  At any rate, that's about all the information I can give you at the moment as that's all I know.  Are there other ways to look at the event viewer logs that may be more helpful to you in helping my troubleshoot this?

By the way, I haven't seen this problem occur in a few days now, so maybe it was just a fluke, I'm not sure.  Again, thanks for the help and let me know if there is any other information I can provide.

    Hello DirtyDawgOriginal,

Do we have any other network devices like Printer, Network Drives which are non functional or have some issues connected to the network?

We may receive such a log when any such network device which is non functional is connected to the network.

In addition you can check if the services Homegroup Listener Service and Homegroup Provider services are started.

    To check the same,

    1. Please click on Start
    2. In the start Search box type "services.msc" without the quotes and hit ENTER. We should now have the services window open.
    3. Check for the status of Homegroup Listener and Homegroup Provider service in the services window.
    4. Right click on both of the above services and click on RESTART in case they are already started.
    5. Else try starting the services and make a note of any errors we receive.

Please provide additional details available in the Error event properties window, which would provide better clarity on

what exactly is at fault and what might be causing the issue.

    Regards,

    Deepak - Microsoft Support

Thank you for the response Chris.  However, I do not have a problem with sleep mode.  My problem has to do with what's described in my post, the homegroup log. I really do appreciate your time, even though there has been a little mistake made here. :)  If you could please, give me a little help on the "homegroup log" problem.
