"Register TypeLib failed" error message

I have Windows 7 Pro x64 bit. I tried to install an video converter software called 'easyflv' but it would not install. I got a message that says

"Unable to register the type library: Register TypeLib failed… Error Accessing the OLE Registry" Retry -Abort - Ignore (not recommended).

I contacted easyflv and they told me to just click IGNORE when I get that message at installation. I am however concerned that doing that could create problems with my Registry, OS, uninstalling or other things.

What do you think about their advice and where do I go from here? I read similar questions in the forum here but not sure how they apply to my situation.

Thank you Sriniva R for your response. I tried reinstalling the software using the right click 'Troubleshooting Compatibility' and that seems to have done the trick. The software is working even though in the compatibility report it showed the yellow triangle with the exclamation on it beside the software. Will running an incompatible software cause problems in other areas?

    Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue.  After invoking the following command "REGSVR32 “full file name” (without quotes) and press enter", I get the following error:  "The module "stdole2.tlb" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "stdole2.tlb" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again".  Could you suggest a solution?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    HiNiagara,

We are glad to hear that you were able to find a fix to install the video converter software by installing it in compatibility mode and I thank you for the information provided about how to fix it.

Running the program in compatibility mode will not case any issue.

Please feel free to contact us back, in case you face any other issues in future.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Niagara,

    ·        Do you receive any error message when you try to access the program ‘Easyflv’?

Since the support professional of ‘easyflv’ has informed that you can ignore the message and continue with the installation, you can follow the instructions.

However, you may try to make a note of the file name that failed to register and try to reregister the file by following the steps below and check if it helps.

To run the command in elevated command prompt, follow the steps below:

    a. Open Start menu, click All Programs, select Accessories.

    b. Right click on Command Prompt and click 'Run as administrator'.

    c. Type the following command in the DOS prompt window and press ENTER:

REGSVR32 “full file name” (without quotes) and press enter.

    Restart the computer.

Hope this helps. Let us know the results.

    Thanks and Regards,
