Hi,

·        Which operating system do you use?

·        What do you mean by ‘never heard of it until windows 7’?

·        What files are you trying to open?

·        Were you able to open it before on the system?

·        What is the exact error message and when do you encounter it?

·        Do you remember making any changes to the system?

·        Since when are you facing this issue?

It seems that Windows shell commor is a third party software, I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the program.

It might be that the program is corrupted, I would suggest you to uninstall it from the system and reinstall it again and check, whether the issue is resolved.

Uninstall or change a program

Thank you and Regards.

Ok, I am going to try and help you the best I can in explaining this to you and all the customer service people out there who clearly (on all websites I have checked) don't have a full understanding of what this problem is, I am yet to find a solution anywhere. What I can tell you however is that this 'program' is recommended when you have a file that is for either a) another OS b) corrupt file (rare usually it recognises corrupt files differently or c) It simply doesn't recognise the file type. There may be other reasons out there but that is all I am aware of so far. Now to fix it obviously if the file is for another OS it's not going to work, if it's a corrupt file then you will need to repair it and if it doesn't recognise the file google the file and try to find out what program the file requires to be opened or perhaps you will find there is a universal problem with that file.

I hope I've helped because I too looked for something about this file and found absolutely nothing all the customer service replies seemed to be stunned when confronted with this issue.
