Cannot install the Microsoft .Net Framwork 1.1 Service Pack 1 update.  I continuously receive the error code 0x64C, which doesn't come up when I try to search for what it means on the Microsoft help site.  So everyday. when I try to shut down the message to download updates and then shut down appears.  I can't get rid of it.  What do I do?

When installing updates using Windows update or Microsoft Update you may receive Error 0x643 or 0x80070643 (23 Oct-09)

Me too, same error code, plus the Automatic Updater is downloading the same things day after day?? An example is: Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.0 Service Pack 3.  Is that because the MS.NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack failed to download?  The last time I tried, an hour ago or so, I received this message: SL22.tmp Fatal Error CLR error 80070002.  I have been trying to free up some memory hoping that would help my operational problems, did I make it worse?  I wonder how much time is spent by Microsoft's customers dealing with the updates and all the issues that seem to follow.  And I thought Internet Explorer 8 was going to resolve the IE trouble, what happened...please help...

    Robert,

Your link is referencing error code 0x643, but Dawngkh asked about error 0x64c.

I too have received Error:  0x64c 40 times since Oct. 30th when my computer runs automatic updates.

Is the Error 0x643 the same as 0x64c?

    Hi Robert

I have solved the problem doing the same as what is suggested in the link in your post. But I didn't follow your advice because it did not relate to the error code users are getting. Your reply mentions other error numbers not the 0x64c one.

    geoff
