Error Messages: "Error 7217" and "DllOpenEnum failed"

Error Messages keep popping up when I try to play games on my P.C. using Windows XL.

I cannot find out what the messages mean but have  been told to try suspending my anti-virus program but cannot see how (It's the free version of AVG off the web) -that doesn't seem possible -which seems strange!

I've tried going down the "compatability road" as some of the games are old -but whilst I seem to be able to install them, they won't work when I try to play them!

Some of The Games concerned are: TOCA Race Driver TM2, Le Mans 24hours from Infogrames, Grand Prix Legends and Spirit of Speed from Microprose.

naturally I have tried to contact them -but have only received a reply from the suppliers of the TOCA game -whio suggested suspending my anti-virus program when trying to play it - without success!

Any Ideas - Please express them in the simplest terms -I'm a comparative cretin where It is concerned!

Hi,

You may try these steps and check if it fixes the problem.

**Step 1:**I would suggest you to temporarily disable the anti virus program on your computer. Refer the link mentioned below for instructions:

http://free.avg.com/us-en/faq.num-1311

Also temporarily disable your firewall and check.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Firewall-frequently-asked-questions

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your

antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are

connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

**Step 2:**You may update your graphics card drivers  and check if it helps.

Follow these steps to update the drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager.

If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.‌

  1. In the list of hardware categories, find display adapter, and then double-click the device name.
  2. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, and then follow the instructions. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the

password or provide confirmation.
