USB port timeout

I have a Belkin digital KVM that I use to switch between my a6700f and my work laptop.  The switch supports a monitor with HDMI and a Logitech Wave keyboard/mouse combo.  I've got Windows Vista Premium 64-bit installed.  When I switch away from the Vista machine, the USB port connected to the switch times out and will not wake up when I switch back.  The only recourse is to reboot the PC.  Obviously not an effective situation.  Any clues?

Gordon,

There still seems to be a compatibility issue with this device and the way Vista handles USB timing.  Check out this article to see if it provides any additional information that might be helpful to you.

Other than that, you will need to check with Belkin to see if they have any new firmware or drivers for Vista compatibility.

Thank you,

Gloria-  It's a Belkin F1DD102U SOHO 2 Port DVI KVM switch.

    aardvarkusrex,

Can you tell me the model number of your KVM switch?  That will help me determine if Vista supports it.

    Thanks,

Gloria - no joy.  The patch is already on my system.  Any other ideas?  HP doesn't know what to do except blame the Belkin digital KVM.  The switch worked fine on an HP PC running XP.  XP allowed one to go in and force the USB port to stay powered up when I switched away, but it appears Vista has no equivalent capability.  I can put my old PC back on and it works fine so I know that's not the issue.
