Cannot connect two computers, get an error Error code 0x80070035 The Network Path was not found

OP: My two computers see each other on my network, but I can't access one from the other - just started happening!

Hello,

I have a desktop and a laptop, both using Windows 7. Until today, I have had no problems networking them together through my DSL Broadband modem/router for almost a year now. All of a sudden today, I am trying to do things I normally do with my computers via networking, and now I get error code messages:

Error code 0x80070035 The Network Path was not found

I also get a message about checking the spelling of the computer or location I am trying to access.

All the names are correct, I have changed nothing. What could be the problem? I have updated drivers and software, so out of date drivers shouldn't be a problem... I cannot access anything from one computer to the next if I am trying to do it through the network. please help.

Here is the solution to "error code 0x80070035 network path was not found" on Windows Vista and Windows 7 Computers. Click on the "START" button, select "CONTROL PANEL", and go into "DEVICE MANAGER". Click on "NETWORK ADAPTERS", then click on "VIEW", and select "SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES". In the expanded view you will see a long list of numbered "MICROSOFT 6to4 ADAPTER". My Windows 7 Professional desktop had 200 of them. Right click and select "DELETE" on all but 1 of them. You can only do 1 at a time so it does take a while. When you have only 1 left, restart computer and enjoy being able to see your other network computers, including HOMEGROUP files.

    Hello Irfan,

Thank you for the reply and information. So far, my problem has not been resolved after trying all three seperate methods you wrote down for me. I still get messages about not finding the path in the network, or the name possibly not being spelled correctly, or not having permission to access... On both computers, my user account is the Admistrator account, so why do I suddenly not have permission to access things? I am the only person that uses my coputers - I live alone, so nobody has been on my computers but me. I also see that there are other people on this website that are complaining about or experienceing the same Windows 7 networking problems, or similar networking problems. This problem came out of nowhere... up until a day or so ago, everything was normal. I was able to access and transfer files between the two computers, access all folders and directories.. but now I can't do much of that... Is there help, is there a fix? Please help. Thank you.

I have Norton 360 installed on both computers, but it has been on my desktop for almost a year, and on my laptop for a few months, so I am not sure it is the anti virus softwear doing it, I just don't know, and it is frustrating and causing a problem.

    Hello Lctoliver,

You can try the below methods to fix this issue.

    Method 1:

    Disable Antivirus Software temporarily:

You can try to disable antivirus program and firewalls temporarily and check if you have the same issue in connecting the computers.

If you are able to connect after disabling the Antivirus, you might need to give exceptions to the network in the firewall.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after performing the test to keep your computer protected.

    Method 2:

    a.     Open Advanced sharing settings by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click Network and Sharing Center, and then, in the left pane, click Change advanced sharing settings.

    b.     From the drop down to access the network profile and check if Network Discovery is turned off, under Network discovery, click Turn on network discovery, and then click save changes. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Refer the below link that will give you information on

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Why-can-t-I-connect-to-other-computers

Also try to disable Password protected sharing as described in the article.

Check if you are able to access the other using the IP address.

To do this, follow the steps in computer 1.

    a.     Click on Start, select.

    b.     In the Run dialog box type, ‘ipaddress’ of the computer 2 and press enter eg:\\192.168.0.2\

(To get the IP address of the other computer, click on Start and type ‘CMD’ in the search field. Open command prompt and type ‘ipconfig’ to get the IP address.

    Method 3:

Start both the computers in ‘Safe Mode’ and check if you are able to access the computers.

Follow the below steps to boot the computer to ‘Safe Mode with Networking’:

    a.     Restart your computer if it is powered on.

    b.     Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.

    c.      Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.

    d.     Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.

    e.     Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.

    f.       Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.
