    I HAVE A SOLUTION.

Open the folder with the MP3 file in it that you want Windows Media Player

    to play.

Click on "Organize" then "Folder and Search Options". Choose the view tag.

Untick "Hide extensions for known file types". Click "OK".

Right click in blank area of the folder. Choose "Properties" then the

"Customize" tab. Select "Documents" from the drop down menu. Click "OK".

You will now see files in the folder with their extensions. Change the

extension of the file you want WMP to play from ".mp3" to ".mp2".

Double click the file. It will play in WMP. The Codec is there all the

time. It is an mp2 codec!

Don't waste time looking for a codec that does not exist.

I hope this makes everybody happy.

    Have a good day mate.

Grateful for your response.I come from china.

Recently found to play *. MP3, often Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec Codec is missing.Winamp 5.552 normal players! However, windows is the default player WMP. And my Winamp 5.552 is pirated.

    ★ Issue of process:

    Click web help:

To search for the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec, see WMPlugins.com.

    http://www.wmplugins.com/UnavailableItem.aspx?codec=50

    Codec not found

The codec you are missing is not available for download from this site. You might be able to find it on another site by searching the Web for "50" (this is the WaveFormat or FourCC identifier of the codec).

    Hello barryhxl,

Thanks for using the Microsoft Answers Forum

Make sure that the audio or video file you are trying to play has been converted to its format properly. Can you play the file on other computers or even in different media player software on the same machine? If you haven’t tried another media player besides the one you have it may be that the software isn’t reading the file properly.

Let us know if you have tried the file on other machines or media players and tell if you have had any luck.
