Code 37

I have one of those yellow triangles in my processor boxes on device driver and I get a code 37 which is "windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware".  I did not know that processors had device drivers, but what do I do to correct it?  When I had the same problem with my audio driver I uninstalled it and reinstalled it from my compter manufacturer's website.  I cannot do the same thing for a processor, can I? (uninstall it)  If I can, where do I find the driver for Athlon 64 dual core 5000 processors?

i did that and it still didnt work,i even tried the microsoft fix it programme to help but still i have code 37.

its so annoying i cant play dvd's or cd's because of this problem

Are you sure code 37 is linked to the processor and not the DVD drive?

Try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 knowledge base article to fix the DVD drive.

Never ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly".

Go to Maker's Site and look for drivers for the processors. System, Motherboard, or device in that order.

Yes you can uninstall them. Upon reboot they will install the current drivers if you do not have newer one, and you can also tell it to look for them on internet. Best is to have them available if possible.

    Hello greatsocks,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Vista Answers Forum!

Generally, (Code 37) simply mean Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. I know this may sound strange but use the same steps as in the previous issue to initialize/update the driver for this device.

    Open Device Manager

Right click on the device with exclamation mark (yellow mark) and select Update Driver Software

Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Once the update is done, restart your PC.

Please reply and let us know if your issue is resolved or if you will need further assistance.
