Many of my jpeg pictures  - me unknown - been converted to mix which my Microsoft XP can nlot open!!!

    ==============================

The MIX files may have been created with the

    older software Microsoft Picture It!

The Picture It! .mix format (extension) requires

MS Picture It! or MS Digital Image.

If you need an app to open the files with...you

could use the 60 day trial version of Digital

    Image 2006.

While you have the .mix files open...it might be

a good idea to save them in a more universal

format like .jpg, .png or .tif. You can do it in a

batch in Digital Image if you go to...

......Touchup / Batch Edit In Mini Lab / Save As.....

The number of files you can convert at one time

will depend on your system resources but I

would say try 50 and see what happens.

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System

Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Microsoft Digital Image

    Starter Edition 2006

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7C3B3DED-A15F-48C5-B724-7796FE8C151E&displaylang=en

    (this product line has been

    discontinued but you can still

    download the Starter Version

and run it for 60 days)

    Another option.....

How to View and/or Convert Picture It! .mix files.

If you have any version of MS Picture It! / MS

    Digital Image...give it a try.

If these are single image files that were created

with MS Picture It!...the following info may be

    your solution:

The evaluation version of PolyView may allow

you to batch reformat your .mix files.

You can download an evaluation copy at the

    following link:

    PolyView

    www.polybytes.com

    (Go to...Downloads / PolyView 4.41 Setup

    Program)

    When you open PolyView...go to...

    File / Format Conversions...

Browse to the folder your .mix files are

saved in and open the drop window and

    choose "All Files".

Left click the "Add All" button.

    Left click the "Continue" button...

    Choose your "Destination Format" JPEG

    Choose your JPEG quality...100

    Choose a "Destination Folder"...

    Left click the "Start" button.

I tried the Miicrosoft Digital Image Starter but cannot get it to open the .mix files.  What sequence did you use.

    =========================================

Nothing special...just open Digital Image and go to...File /

Open and browse to the folder the files are saved in.

Or just drag/drop a photo on the Digital Image launch icon.

Can you successfully open your .jpg photos in the Digital

    Image software?

Were these .mix files created in Microsoft Picture It!?

If they were created in MS PhotoDraw..you will need the

MS PhotoDraw software to open them.
