KVM and Mouse

I have two PCS one running XP and one Windows 7.  I use a KVM switch so that I only have one Keyboard and Mouse on my desk.  Most of the time it works OK.  Sometimes the mouse pointer is frozen when I switch back to the machine running Windows 7.  The only way to restart it seems to be a reboot

Both PCs have PS2 mice and keyboards.  There were two non-critical NVIDIA updates which I have installed (The Motherboard and Graphics are NVIDIA).  The drivers for the mouse are standard windows drivers.  The problem remains.

    Hi Peter Bullard,

    a. Have you updated the mouse drivers and other device drivers?

    b. Is it a PS/2 or an USB port KVM switch?

First, power cycle by unplugging all the devices connected to the KVM and then wait for, say about 5 minutes and then re-plug and restart the computer. Does this fix the issue?

Sometimes, the issue could be easily fixed by updating the drivers.

The issue could be related to drivers and updating the same could help in fixing the issue. Visit the manufacturer’s website and download and install the latest Windows 7 compatible drivers and check if that fixes the issue.

Refer the links below for more info on updating drivers:

    Hope this helps!
