Function Keys - change functions on Function Keys

original title: Function Keys

I work from home listening to phone calls and transcribing them.  I use the F5, F6, F7, F8, F9 keys ALL the time as they pause, slow down, speed up, rewind or fast forward my calls for my work.  In my new computer keyboard, those keys ALSO control the volume. The F7 key, which is my pause button for work, is also my mute button on the new keyboard.  This will not work for me!!  I need to know how to turn OFF the volume or other features that the FUNCTION keys do.  I don't want them to do anything but be there.  I have been trying to find ANYTHING on this subject and having been able to find one thing.  If anyone has ANY suggestions, they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Hi annetaylor12,

Thank you for taking the time to post.

What keyboard are you using? Have you open the keyboard software to see if you have the option to change key assignments?

Have you looked in the program that you listen to calls with on setting the F7 key to what you want?

I see you say “in my new keyboard” so your previous keyboard you were able to set the keys to what you wanted? If you can provide the keyboard model that would help us to resolve this or point you in the right direction.

Please let us know.

Thanks,

Keith
