Almost.
For Mutli-Processor systems:
'expand <cd-drive>:\i386\ntkrnlmp.ex_ <hd-drive>:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe'
What I don't know is: does "Multi-processor systems" mean multi core cpus? Aren't they logically displayed to the system as multiple processors? Or are they talking about strictly multi processors as in multiple chips in a server system?
I am having this problem right now and I have a Pentium Core Duo 3.2 GHz in my machine. I just did the expand.......ntoskrnl.ex_ but I might just try the ntkrnlmp.ex_ and see what happens...... I have to see how lucky I feel tonight before I try it. chkdsk /r is running right now and last time I checked it said 70% but I just checked it now and it says 52%!!!!! I am used to *nix where I can kill a process or command. How do I do that on the recovery console? I've tried ctrl-*, pretty much. x,c,v,z,a,s,d,f,q,w,e,r none of them stop the damn thing. I don't know exactly what's going on while this command is running so I'm too scared to just kill the power even though I already copied my file and it's booted from a disk. It is editing the C: I think.....
