Error code 8007052 on various updates

Trying to install several updates and I continually get the error above.  I tried to install just one update MS Office Compatibility Pack SP2 and I still get that error.

If I try the other updates on their own, I get the same error.  The other 2 updates I am attempting are:

-  Office Genuine Advantage Notification

-  PPT Viewer 2007 SP2

As additional info, if I try to install another program unrelated to MS Updates, the installation program for whichever program I try to install gives me an error that there is another installation in progress that has to finish.  (I have re-booted the machine a few times to see if that clears but hasn't.)

Thanks for any help!

Raul

Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft 7 Answers Forum!

This issue could occur if some of windows update components are corrupted, hence we will try to reset windows Update components and check for the issue.

You need to follow the below provided link to run the fixit which will automatically fix the issue if you find any issues with the fixit then you can follow the further procedure to manually reset Windows update component.

How do I reset Windows Update components?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971058

Once the Windows Update components are reset, try installing the updates again. To do so,

  1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.
  2. Click on the Change settings option in the navigation bar on the left. You will now be at a screen where you will be able to set up how Windows Vista will download and install updates on your computer.
  3. Select the option **Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.**When you are done configuring the options as you wish, press the OK button to save these settings. You will now be back at the main Windows Update screen.
  4. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
  5. You may then download the updates one or two at a time.

6. Click on install updates to install the currently selected updates.

  1. Repeat the steps 5 and 6 till you get all the updates you want on your PC.

Note updates should be closed completely before installing other applications, else you will receive the error message again.
