I've tried to install the Sims 3 on my computer and when I click the DVD drive to autoplay the disc an error screen pops up containing this:

>SetupNew.setup.cpp (140)

PAPP:

PVENDOR:

PGUID:

$15.0.0.498

@ Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (6001)

IE Version 7.0.6001.18000

What do I do to fix this?

Thank you

Hello Sparstons22

Thanks for using the Microsoft Answers Forum.

You might first try looking through the compatibility website located at the link below to make sure the game is listed on the website as being fully compatible with Windows Vista.

Windows Vista Compatibility website

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/

Secondly, you can try installing the game in compatibility mode from within Windows Vista. This process can be accomplished by right clicking on the install file and select the compatibility tab. Select the appropriate operating system from the list and the options you want applied to the install then press OK. You can then try the install againa and see what response you get.

Let us know what you find out and if this suggestions works for you.

I'm having the same problem and I don't have Windows Vista. I've got Windows 7. I double-checked and my error code says the exact same as above

This is how to get it working ;)

    1. Google - Power iso
    2. Download & Install (its free)
    3. Restart Computer - So the program isnt in limted use mode
    4. Right click the iso (sims)
    5. Hover over where it say's power iso, and select MOUNT IMAGE TO DRIVE (LETTER)(Need to complete step 3 for this to work)
    6. Go to my computer and it will show up just like you have put a disk in the computer saying sims.
    7. Right click it and select INSTALL OR RUN PROGRAM.

8 Setup will launch correctly with no errors.

I Have just recived the same error message, and after looking around on google i found many answers that

told me to delete the file as its corrupted, This should work, as it worked for me.

    Good Luck

    edmondme,

I do not have McAfee installed on my machine and I still get the same error as the rest of the people inside this thread. I think it very arrogant of you to assume that you know the answer and make people think that they are of low intelligence because that is how you are coming across.
