Ok. I think I fixed the problem now.
I ran chkdsk /f upon start up, let it run through all that and replaced whatever files it found that needed it. All fixed as far as I can tell, besides a bit slow.

A month or two ago, I went from Windows XP to Windows 7 64bit. A problem I have recently run into is that any program that I install (trillian, oovoo, mozilla firefox) come up as not being installed, not being set as default after doing so previously or not keeping user account info. Internet explorer, norton 2010 stay installed and unchanged as far as I can tell.
Has anyone heard of this or better yet, know what the problem may be?
thanks.

Did it do this initially after the Win7 install or start doing this sometime after? If it has started this just recently then I'd look at what programs I installed just before it started, and barring that, perhaps you've picked up some kind of virus.
And, nope, haven't heard of this problem before.
