I recently used the windows update as normal and the following time I tried to switch it on my desktop computer would not work.  When I switch it on there are no lights on the keyboard and no signal to the monitor.  A long beep sounds within a few seconds and is repeated over and over.  The computer will not do anything else.  Can anyone help??

Fingsey,

What you are hearing is simply called a "Beep code" and it indicates a problem with your hardware.  Basically your PC is not able to boot up even to the point of getting to the BIOS.  Typically this happens when there is an issue with your RAM, but can also be caused by a CPU error or problem on the motherboard.  You will need to contact the computer manufacturer to find out what the beep code means and how to properly troubleshoot the hardware error.
